We are currently recruiting for 2 electro-mechanical apprentices to join our team.
Job Role Description
You will report daily to the Workshop Team Leader.
You will learn a wide range of electro-mechanical skills and your typical daily tasks will involve the following:-
- Dismantle electric motors, pumps, gearboxes, servomotors, fan units and similar equipment.
- Correctly mark up components prior to and after dismantling as required.
- Statically test electrical components using a range of test equipment.
- Clean components, repair as necessary, rebuild and test unit.
- Record electric motor winding details.
- Check and record electronic feedback data & re-align devices with servo test equipment.
- Rebuild units, paint & run test.
- Assist engineers with on-site works.
You will also be involved in placing items into stock and removing items from stock. You will learn skills on lathes, pedestal drillers, sandblasting machines, hydraulic presses, steam cleaner, overhead cranes, dynamic balancing machines and paint spraying.
You will also be required to attend customers’ sites to observe and assist in repairing items in-situ and fitting replacement units. These will constitute electric motors, pumps and fans. You will also be trained on and assist an engineer in the use of on-site equipment for laser alignment, vibration monitoring and dynamic balancing. Sites will include public sector buildings and manufacturing plants.
You will also have the opportunity to attend customers’ sites with our Technical Sales Manager to meet customers and observe the items we repair working in situ.
Skills we are looking for include good manual skills and you will have to be keen to work with your hands. You must be happy working in varied environments becoming fully involved with your job. Good practical problem-solving skills are very important along with communication skills and the ability to work in a team and on your own initiative. As an apprentice, you must be willing to learn at all times as our work is very varied.
We do not require any particular experience. A positive attitude, willingness to learn and good work ethic are far more important along with a keen interest in mechanical and electrical engineering.
