High Quality Service – Reduced Downtime – Increased Productivity
Robotics
Due to these characteristics, servo motors are well suited to and used in a variety of automation operations such as industrial robots and packaging machines. With advances in technology and manufacturing processes, servo motors are becoming more and more commonplace on machinery throughout every industrial sector.
With our advanced diagnostic, test and run equipment coupled with our highly skilled team we can repair & service all makes of servo motors including Siemens, Lenze, ABB, Bosch Rexroth, SEW Eurodrive, Allen Bradley, Baumuller, Nidec, Control Techniques, Fanuc, Kollmorgen, Indramat, Mitsubishi, & many more!
At Webb-Elec we have invested heavily in our servo motor repair department with the latest industry leading equipment and engineering talent. We can repair all types of servo motors, including AC synchronous, AC asynchronous and DC servo motors.
Servo motors are fitted with a wide range of different feedback devices & a thorough understanding of how the motors and their feedback devices work is critical to providing an effective repair service. These feedback devices include simple hall effect sensors, resolvers, incremental and absolute encoders, serial data encoders with or without on-board memory & tachogenerators.
We provide a full diagnostic, repair & rebuild service to all makes of servomotors supporting clients’ applications from robotics in car manufacturing right through to dehackers in brick manufacturing and packaging applications in the food industry.
Webb-Elec Servo Motor Repairs
- Inspect and diagnose servo motor to identify any electronic issues and to check the integrity & positional data of the feedback device, recording any memory data.
- Dismantle the motor and carry out a Baker & surge test to the stator windings to check for any winding faults and that the insulation is suitable for service, not only to earth but between each individual turn of the windings.
- Rewind the stator windings if these have failed.
- Machine & rebuild any bearing journals or housings that are worn.
- Machine & rebuild worn shaft and keyway.
- Dynamically balance the rotor.
- Supply & fit replacement bearings & seals.
- Repair and rebuild brake assembly where fitted. Brake coil rewind and friction plate re-lined as required.
- Fully test brake for correct holding & breakaway torque.
- Refit & fully align feedback device. New feedback fitted and programmed if original has failed.
- Set up servo motor and carry out full commutation and alignment check followed by an extensive run test to ensure correct operation.
- Paint motor and deliver back to customer.
Typical Servo Motor Operating Problems & Reasons for These:
- Bearing problems
- Worn housings/journals
- Excessive vibration
- Motor and/or brake winding failure
- Shaft and keyway wear
- Connection plug damage
- Low/poor winding insulation reading
- Feedback alignment faults
- Encoder memory faults
- Resolver failure
Reasons why your Servo may be suffering:
- Internal contamination from oil, grease or fluid
- Motor overload
- Low output from resolver
- Worn brake with incorrect air gap
- Encoder or resolver misalignment
- Worn or loose coupling
- Poor earthing
- Rotor imbalance
- Encoder memory faults
- Failed encoder or resolver
