Webb-Elec Gear Motor Repairs Process
When contacting Webb-Elec your gearmotor will not wait for several days to be assessed. We pride ourselves on our rapid and high quality service and will inspect your unit within a few hours of receiving it, our standard service includes the following procedures:-
- Inspect & assess gearmotor to identify any visible issues and to check the condition of the overall unit
- Dismantle the motor and carry out a Baker & surge test to the stator windings to check for any winding faults and that the insulation is suitable for service. Insulation faults tested for are not only to earth but between each individual turn of the windings
- Rewind the stator windings if these have failed.
- Machine & rebuild any bearing journals or housings that are worn.
- Machine & rebuild worn shaft and keyway if worn or damaged
- Dynamically balance the rotor.
- Inspect & assess gearbox for overall condition; by checking the condition of the oil first this can suggest a lot about why there may be a failure
- Dismantle the gearbox and asses the gears, bearings housing and seal seatings for wear
- Machine & rebuild bearing & seal housings and journals as required and replace any worn gears
- Rebuild both the motor and gearbox
- Repair brake where fitted on a geared brake motor and fit all necessary replacement components
- Replace the oil with fresh lubricant to the correct level requirements as per the unit’s mounting position
- After the gear motor has been rebuilt run a final test
- Where a brake is fitted, fully test for correct holding & breakaway torque
- Paint gearmotor and deliver back to customer
